In this 6th Grade Humanities class, Ms Valillo makes learning targets very clear on the board, so students can refer back to it along the lessons. To help students unpack a big learning target, the teacher has also on the board some supporting learning targets that will help students reach their goal.
Then another element made visible and accessible at all times by the teacher, is the purpose for engaging in that learning goal.
Finally, guiding questions are also made visible to guide students in the specific context of the lesson which involved discussion on traditions. Another guiding question involved support for extracting meaning from text, as this would be the basis for student learning about traditions.
